Borders within MERCOSUR: notes on the formation of the political agenda of border integration

Abstract


The article reviews the economic foundations for the creation of MERCOSUR and outlines the importance of considering the social and political debate in South American development. In order to integrate economies, it is necessary to bring together peoples and governments, which have their own historical trajectory. The author indicates that the policy agenda, before facing the maritime boundary, is directed at land border. With this change of reference, there was a tendency to change the perspective of the state and its central government on issues related to border strip.
